Healing of Spiritual Issues through The Holy Qur’an
“It is You we worship and You we ask for assistance.” [The Holy Qur’an 1: 5]
The Holy Qur’an is a healing for the body and the soul. Whenever life becomes hard and complicated, the Light of The Holy Qur’an will always brighten the way. It will be a source of solace and tranquility. It will be a defender to you when you are powerless and in need of protection against Magic, Relief from the mischief-maker, Tyrant, Danger of life, Evil, Distress, Oppressor, Livelihood, Frustrations, Free you from gripes, Defeat your enemy, worries, Attaining one’s object, To give up liquor, Solicitation of bride, Disputes between husband and wife, To gain knowledge, Release from imprisonment and bond, Controlling anger etc……. Almighty ALLAH says (what means):
سُوۡرَةُ الفَلَق
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn, (1) From the mischief of created things; (2) From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads; (3) From the mischief of those who practice Secret Arts; (4) And from the mischief of the envious one as he practices envy. (5)
Tragically, there are those who recite The Holy Qur’an in its entirety and finish with little more than with what they began with in terms of contemplation and action. Some are so concerned with how they sound, they beautify their voice without ever listening to what is being ordered or prohibited. Truly, there are many reciters of The Holy Qur’an that The Holy Qur’an is free from them and their evil. They recite The Holy Qur’an and are oppressive to themselves and others by not following its orders or forbidding its prohibitions.
Nothing is more valuable to a Muslim in his worldly life and in the Hereafter than The Holy Qur’an reflecting and trying to comprehend its meaning. In doing so, an individual will become acquainted with what is good and what is evil. He will see the effects of disobedience of Almighty ALLAH and its punishment in the parables of those who have come before us. An example of such a punishment is the flood that was sent upon the people of Nooh (Noah) A.S and punishment upon Firoun , Namrood , Shadad , Karron , Waqayanoos and others similar to it. It is a source of inspiration and it strengthens one’s belief in Almighty ALLAH. For this reason, Almighty ALLAH says (what means):
اِنَّمَا الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّٰهُ وَجِلَتۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ وَاِذَا تُلِيَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ اٰيٰتُه زَادَتۡهُمۡ اِيۡمَانًا وَّعَلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ يَتَوَكَّلُوۡنَ
” … and when His (Almighty ALLAH ’s) verses (The Holy Qur’an) are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely.” [The Holy Qur’an 8:2]
The Holy Qur’an was sent and revealed from above the seven Heavens so that it could be comprehended and implemented, it is not just to be recited while the heart is pre-occupied. Almighty ALLAH says (what means):
كِتٰبٌ اَنۡزَلۡنٰهُ اِلَيۡكَ مُبٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوۡۤا اٰيٰتِه وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ اُولُوۡا الۡاَلۡبَابِ
“[This is] a blessed Book which we have revealed to you, [O Muhammad, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.” [The Holy Qur’an 38:29]
The Holy Qur’an is of great importance due to many more reasons than those we mentioned above, and which the Muslims must realize and have clear in their minds. I will try to highlight in this address some of these concepts that are instilled in The Holy Qur’an, so that perhaps we may realize the importance of thoughts upon The Holy Qur’an.
If one think over the saying of Almighty ALLAH (which means):
اِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَاِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِيۡنُ
He will realize that it means that worship and seeking assistance are exclusively for Almighty ALLAH, and this is the real essence of servitude to Almighty ALLAH . One must wonder when he recites this verse, which we do more than seventeen times daily, why worship is designated solely to Almighty ALLAH, and likewise seeking assistance. This concept must be clear in our minds: that only Almighty ALLAH is to be worshipped; not wealth, not position, not other people, not man-made laws, or anything else.
We must submit our wills solely to Almighty ALLAH and humble ourselves only to Him. Also, we must seek only His assistance as a sign of perfect servitude because regardless of how powerful human forces are, they remain very limited, while the power of Almighty ALLAH is ultimate and unlimited as Almighty ALLAH is the All-Powerful. This includes faith (iman) in Almighty ALLAH as not only the Creator but the Sustainer and the Protector.
